Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Evans Sands, 90, resident of the Lynnville Community, were held at 3 o'clock Sunday morning at Bennett-May Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Ollie Binkley, pastor of the Taylors Chapel Methodist Church, and the Rev. George Hill of Nashville, Baptist minister. Burial took place in Lynnwood Cemetery. Mrs. Sands died at 8 o'clock on Saturday morning, September 23, at her home after a lengthy illness.
Born July 20, 1871, in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Robert L. Evans and Delilah Angus Evans. She had been a member of Taylors Chapel Methodist Church from her girlhood. Her husband, Robert L. Sands, died twenty-five years ago.
Mrs. Sands is survived by three sons, Joe L. Sands and Houston M. Sands, Lynnville, and R. Clyde Sands, Columbia; three daughters, Miss Martha Elizabeth Sands, Miss Mary Delilah Sands and Mrs. David Bonds, Lynnville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Miss Jeffie Evans, Lynnville.
