GEORGE A. HOLLENBECK - NICHOLS
Rites will be conducted at Nichols Methodist church Sunday at 2:30 p.m. for George A. Hollenbeck, 70, lifelong Nichols resident.
The Nichols area farmer died at 6 p.m. Friday at Hawker nursing home in West Liberty following a lingering illness. His address was R. 4, Muscatine.
V Snider funeral home is handling the arrangements for the funeral. The Rev. Marvin Ceynar of the Nichols church will officiate and interment will be at Nichols cemetery.
Born Oct. 4, 1893, at Nichols, Mr. Hollenbeck was the son of Ulysses Grant and Kathryn Schmitt Hollenbeck.
He was married to Winifred Wasson June 25, 1916. She preceded him in death in 1951.
Mr. Hollenbeck was a member of Nichols Methodist church, the IOOF and Rebeckahs.
The survivors are: Sons Merle of Carbon - Ciff, Ill., Leo of Letts; William: of Mesa, Ariz.: Gayle of R. 4,N Muscatine; Virgil of Davenport; a brother Alfred at Nichols and, sister Mrs. Lillian Jensen of Nichols.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, brother and sisters.
NOTE: In the Nichols Centennial book, the marriage date for George & Winifred is listed as June 26.
