Marye was a farmwife, mother and grandmother. She was employed as a cashier for R.M. Harrison Dime Store in Mt. Pleasant for over 28 years.
She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She belonged to the Salem American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, playing bridge & pinochle, gardening, crocheting, sewing and other crafts.
Besides her parents and husbands, Marye was preceded in death by a son, John Dale Smith, a brother, Hoyt E. Montgomery and a sister, Martha E. Beery.
