First, she devoted her life to her parents, especially her invalid mother, carrying her upstairs. Because of this, she never married. After her parents passed she adopted two young girls and provided a very nurturing home for them.

Lillie ran the Sunday school at Hammond Street Church. Also worked for the Maine State legislature as a stenographer. She was prolific in her handwork of quilts, cut linens, cross-stitch and crotchet. She enjoyed beekeeping on her property. Her love and caring carries on.
