Clara Mae Finney, April 4, 1918-June 19, 2006, Clara Mae Finney, 88, of 1512 Arrowhead Drive, Rochester, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Monday at her residence. She was born on April 4, 1918, in Marshall County, the daughter of Orville J. and Mary Edna (Peterson) Long. On March 6, 1938, in Rochester, she married Alvin L. Finney. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2003. Mrs. Finney had been a homemaker and a cook. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Ruth Circle, and Better Homes Extension Club. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. Survivors include her daughter, Janet and husband John Swanson, Winona Lake; son, Jerry and wife Polly Finney, Akron; grandchildren, Amy and husband Michael McPhail, Winona Lake, Laura Swanson, Warsaw, Thomas and wife Rose Finney, Greenfield, Scott and wife Rachelle Finney, Akron; great-grandchildren, Megan Swanson, Warsaw, Logan McPhail, Winona Lake, Ashley Finney, Greenfield; brothers, Orville and wife Becky Long, Bradenton, Fla., Harold and wife Mona Long, Canton, Mich.; sisters, Erma Coplen, Rochester, Carol and husband Wendell Azbell, North Vernon; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Charles, Merle and Donald Long. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Phil Pratt officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County or to Bethlehem Baptist Church.
