CAMPOBELLO, SC-- John Lewis Hightower, 85, of 470 Honeysuckle Road, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Regional Hospice Home.

A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late Ernest Edward and Myrtle Suddeth Hightower, he was a retired employee of Spartanburg County and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice Louise Loftis Hightower of the home; a son, Johnny Hightower, Jr. and his fiancé, Linda Woodfin of Campobello; two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter Carr and Carole Ann Hightower of Inman and James Otis and Kathy Hightower of Inman; a daughter, Mary Kathy Clayton of Campobello; a sister, Ruth Blackwell of Inman; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hightower was predeceased by three brothers, Joe Hightower, Jack Hightower and Buck Hightower; and two sisters, Nelle Morrow and Patsy Jackson.

Graveside services will be held 4:00 PM, Friday, March 6, 2009 at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Tim C. Clark.

Visitation will be held after the service at the graveside.

The family is at the home.
