Woody, as his friends knew him, is survived by his son, Richard DeWitt, his daughter, Mardel Sutton, eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Woody was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his parents, Robert and Nora DeWitt, and eight brothers and sisters.
Woody graduated from Franklin High School in Los Angeles, and attended the University of Southern California.
Woody was a pioneer in the international and domestic moving and storage business, and was the founder of DeWitt International and DeWitt Moving & Storage. Woody was one of the founders of Highland Federal Bank, an active member in the Rotary Club LA 5, and a long-time member of the Jonathon Club in Los Angeles.
Woody enjoyed golf tremendously, and was a member of the Oakmont Country Club for many years. He was a supporter of the USC Trojan Marching Band, and a Charter Lifetime member of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) 11-99 foundation. Woody was dearly loved and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Glendale, 1712 South Glendale Avenue, Glendale, California.
