Rev. Ulysses S. Woody, 86, of Milledgeville, Ga., formerly of Blairsville, Ga., died Monday, July 24, 2006 in the VA Medical Center in Dublin, Ga.
Rev. Woody was born Monday, October 20, 1919 in Cherokee Co., N.C., to the late John and Polly (Abernathy) Woody. He graduated Fruitland Bible College in Hendersonville, N.C, and was licensed to preach in September 1962 by Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Mills River, N.C., where he served as associate pastor for 16 years. Rev. Woody also served on the deacon board of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He was a WW II U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Hedrick Woody; daughter, Karen E. Woody; and son, David P. Woody.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 28, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home. Interment was in Union Memory Gardens with military honors by the North GA Honor Guard.
