U.S. Congressman. After graduating from Union College in 1819, he studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law in New York City in 1831. Entering politics, he was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1831 and elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress (1833-34). Not seeking reelection, he resumed the practice of law and later died while on trip to France.
