Quinton Erman Daughtry, fondly known as “Kenny” or the “Peanut man”, age 90, transitioned peacefully into the arms of Jesus on August 23, 2017 at the VA Hospice facility in Lake City Florida.
Kenny was born August 21,1927 in O’Brien Fl. This was his home and he would quickly inform you that Suwannee County was indeed “God’s country”. He is well known for his love of people and his ability to remember and tell stories teaching all around him family history, Suwannee County and Florida history. He had the ability to always find a story that would bring fond memories and much laughter.
Kenny was preceded in death by the love of his life, Alma Marie O’Steen Daughtry and his son Keith Daughtry. He leaves behind to celebrate his life and cherish his memories a sister Iva Dean Dear (Jim) Newberry Fl.; children, Karen Longest, Beachville, Fl.; Emery Daughtry ( Sandra) Newberry Fl.; Daniel Daughtry, McAlpin Fl.; Joan Rogers ( Duane) Lake City Fl.; Jean Mosely Welborn Fl. 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and served faithfully for many years. He served faithfully as the music leader and committee chair for the cemetery for an extended period of time. His dedication to this church and the preservation of the cemetery will be forever appreciated and remembered.
Kenny served in the US Navy. His love/passion for his country, for history and politics was well known to all who knew him
Kenny served as a Mason in the Brandford Lodge rising all the way to W. Master Mason. He was very active in the Branford Sportsman Club for Many years.
Kenny started his career farming in Suwannee County, later he began a career as a salesman. After retiring, he began boiling peanuts and became known as the “peanut Man”, this was a thriving business for many years earning him the reputation for having the best peanuts around, a reputation that still carries on.
He never met a stranger and if you talked long enough, he would find a way to connect you to the family.
To our father, brother, papa, uncle, friend, we will miss you but we will see you again in glory, you have fought a good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith, now go rest in peace – we love you.
A celebration of life will be held at Beachville Advent Christion Church, September 10,2017, 3pm. There will be fellowship with family and a meal (possibly peanuts) to follow. Please join us in this very special celebration.
