James Wallen, Sr., retired after 20 years as a public safety officer with the Tennessee Valley Authority, died Wednesday, September 23, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 57.
Mr. Wallen, a longtime resident of Chattanooga, Tenn., also was a fire fighter, and emergency medical technician and a charter member and organist at Calvary Independent Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late James and Lillian Wallen.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Wallen; three sons, James, John and Matthew Wallen, all of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a daughter, Mary D. Wallen Giblin, South Pittsburg, Tenn.; brother, William Wallen, Concord, N.C.; and one grandson.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery in Wildwood, Ga.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
