Charro, a yellow Labrador mix was rescued by an Animal Welfare group from a neglectful home in Cedar City, Utah. She was found chained outside and underweight. Charro had never been off the chain and lived miserably. Lacking space, the Animal Welfare organization took the gentle dog to Best Friends Animal Society.
There it was discovered she had a cancerous lung tumor. Despite an operation, the cancerous tumor had already spread.
One good thing happenned, as soon as she arrived, caretaker Milene Keating took Charro in and she became part of her family. Her last weeks on earth were filled with love and happiness.
Sadly, she had to be euthanized when the cancer started causing her serious problems. It was decided the humane thing to do was to end her suffering.
Her "mom" visits Charro at the cemetery. She is missed very much by all who knew her.
Charro's story was featured on the show "Dog Town".
