Thomas LeRoy Cain 89 of Cobb Island, MD. Died on April 21, 2014 in LaPlata, MD. He was born to the late Sarah Widdows and Norris B. Cain on September 9, 1924 in Coatsville, PA. He moved to Arlington, VA in 1935 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942. He married the love of his life the late Pauline (Polly) O. Potter December 1943. Together Tom and Polly raised three daughters Sue (Roger) Tanck, Robin (Donald) Bladen, and Denise (Joseph) Burch. He is also survived by one brother Norris B. (Sonny) Cain and his wife Grace, grandchildren Jeffrey Tanck, Israel (Sherie) Burch, Tera Bladen (Eric) Moore, Patrick (Christina) Bladen, and Sarah Burch (Travis) LaRoque. Seven great grandchildren Kayla, Wynter, Dustin, Justin, Hunter, Audrey, and Conner. He is predeceased by his sisters Pauline, Margaret, Betty, Marion, brothers John and Robert.

Tom was a proud veteran of WW II Pacific Theater. He retired as Assistant Fire Chief and is a member of the Arlington County Fire Fighters Association. He also loved fishing, hunting, wood working and reading.

The family will receive friends on Friday April 25, 2014 from 10 Am to Service time at 12 noon at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home LaPlata, MD. Interment to follow in the Holy Ghost Church Cemetery Issue, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation 3800 Fettler Park Dr. Ste. 104 Dumfries, VA 22025.
