Professional Football Player. Born Charles Lafayette Shepard, he attended Crozier Tech High School in Dallas and later played collegiate football at North Texas University. He was chosen by the Baltimore Colts during the 18th round of the 1955 NFL Draft and appeared in 12 games at the halfback, defensive back and punter positions with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1956. From 1957 until 1962, Shepard played in the Canadian Football League with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was a member of four Grey Cup Championship teams (1958, 1959, 1961 and 1962 Blue Bombers), and he was named MVP of the 1959 Grey Cup Game. He was inducted into the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame in 1992.
