Corporal Jordan Paul Amos, 25, was called home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2009. He was a wonderful son, loving brother, and proud Marine who was cherished by many family members and friends. He was on active duty with the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, CA, and had served his country during two tours of duty in Iraq.

When asked by a friend on May 18, 2009 what he loved about life and what his goals were Jordan replied, "I like to live life to the fullest and meet new people; I think I can learn something new just by talking to a different person. I will do anything for my family and friends. I want to live a full life and know that I have done something besides waste it. I always try to make people smile ~ Jordan"

Jordan was born June 19, 1983. He graduated from Tunstall High School and attended Virginia Military Institute and Danville Community College before enlisting in the Marine Corps in February of 2006.

Jordan is survived by his parents, Paul and Susan Amos, and a sister, Caitlin of Dry Fork. He is also survived by paternal grandparents Norman and Mavis Amos of Callands, and maternal grandfather Giles Gregory of Danville. He is predeceased by maternal grandmother Nancy Gregory. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Home, 3995 Franklin Tpke., Danville on Wednesday June 24, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 pm and will be at his parent's home at 14496 Mt. Cross Rd. at other times.

Funeral services will be at Christian Tabernacle Church, Wynell Dr., Callands, VA, on Thursday June 25 at 2:00 pm. Officiating will be Reverend Jonathan Hilliard, Reverend Roy Parker, and Reverend Ernest Carter, Jr.

Interment will follow with full military honors at the Gregory Family Cemetery at 14340 Mt. Cross Rd., Dry Fork.

The family wishes to extend thanks to the family, friends, and community for their outpouring of love and support.

Heartfelt gratitude to the Marines of Camp Pendleton, CA, and special friend Matt Freeman for the many kindnesses shown to the family during this difficult time.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Christian Tabernacle Church Building Fund at 460 Gordon Road, Callands, VA,
