VESTA HARRISON OBITUARY
1910 - 2006
Vesta Irene Long Harrison, age 96, of Conway, Arkansas, died November 1, 2006, at Conway. Born January 26, 1910 she was a life long resident of Arkansas and was the widow of Alvin T. Harrison. According to the Arkansas chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, she was the last surviving child of a Confederate Civil War Veteran in Arkansas. Her father, Williamson Graves Long, was a member of the 62nd Alabama Infantry.
She was a housewife most of her life only working during WWII at the Jacksonville Ordnance Works. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxilliary and the Conway Home Demonstration Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Harrison Hartwick of North Little Rock; a son, Monroe Harrison and wife Patricia of Fayetteville; and a stepdaughter, Christine Friedrich and husband Harold of North Little Rock. Also surviving are grandchildren Terry Hartwick, Tim Hartwick, Tracy Hartwick, and Gary Friedrich, all of North Little Rock, Tona Eckley of O’Fallon, Illinois, Phillip Harrison of Bristol, Virginia, David Harrison and Scott Harrison, both of Fayetteville; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at noon Friday, November 3, 2006, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Westbrook Funeral Home., with burial in Antioch Cemetery. www.westbrookfuneralhome.com.
