Henry was William Allen & Henrietta Story Johnson's youngest child. He also like his brothers, were born in the Guys Story Community in Leon County, Texas. His only brothers were John Robert and Edgar. Henry died from a brain abscess in the Camp Hospital, Camp Greene, North Carolina. He was treated by the camp doctor starting March 18th, until he died at 4:55 am on March 26th. He was only 23 years old.

The 1910 Leon County Census finds Henry, 16 living with his father, Will Johnson age 55, step-mother, Lizzie age 33, they have been married twelve years.

Also living in the household are his brothers and sisters: Edgar age 22, Robert age 20, Leanna age 8, William J age 7 and Margaret age 1 year 3 months.

Henry signed his World War I Draft Registration Card on June 5, 1917. He gave his age as 22, and his home address as Normangee, Texas. He was a natural born citizen, born in the Guys Store Community, Texas USA. His present work was a farm laborer and he was working for JW Ellisor in Normangee, Texas. He was single, medium build with grey eyes and brown hair.
