St. Cloud, Fla-Memorial services for Clarence W. "Nub" Welch will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Macon Memorial park with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military honors. Welch, 82, died Tuesday Nov 21 2000. born in Rockmart, he was the son of the late Walter and Eddie Welch. He graduated from the University of Georgia, where he was an All-American football player. He was a retired lieutenant colonel from the Army, was a World War II veteran and a prisoner of war in Germany. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his companion, Mary E Persons: stepdaughter Barbara Chapman of Dale, Texas; brother and sister Bruce Cobb of Smithville and Clara Matrana of New ORleans, La; and a grandchild.
