Born in Newton MS, Miss Anise was the oldest of six children of Anise Pickering McDaniel and Major Cyrus McDaniel Sr. She graduated from Mississippi College with Honors where she met her beloved husband, John F. Brock Jr., who preceded her in death in 2001. Anise was cherished by her brothers and sisters, Annette Robertson Smith of Hattiesburg MS, Sarah Davis of Savannah TN, Major Jr. of Greenville, SC, Jane Wade of Ocean Springs, and Jack McDaniel of Jackson MS.
Mrs. Brock was an elementary school teacher and music teacher in the Moss Point for over 40 years, and has been the Organist for the First Baptist Church of Moss Point for the past 55 years, so her influence in the MS Gulf Coast area has impacted many generations of families. She was also extremely active in the community as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Fortnightly Club, Jackson County Teachers Association, Mississippi Retired Teachers Association and several groups within the First Baptist Church, where she has been a member since 1943.
