TROY CRAFT

Troy Donald Craft, 76, of Las Vegas, passed away June 6, 2009. He was born in Gallup, N.M., June 24, 1932, to Howard and Maude Craft, and moved to Henderson in 1944, after the death of his father. He attended Basic High School, was a three-sport letterman and represented the school at the American Legion's Boys' State Leadership Development Conference during the summer of 1950.

After graduation in 1951, he worked for U.S. Lime until entering the U.S. Air Force in June 1952, where he received training as an engine mechanic and a job at Nellis Air Force Base after discharge.

He was employed in the hotel industry as a security guard and bartender in Las Vegas and South Carolina until his retirement three years ago.

Troy was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in South Carolina and an avid Dodger and Laker fan.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Maude Craft; and siblings, Lurlene, Evelyn, Larry, Howard, John and Juanita.

He is survived by his brother, Norman (Nancy); sister-in-law, Rita Craft; brother-in-law, Lecile Smith; nieces, Leslie Hawkins (Mike), Michele Diaz (Dan), Scotty Sue Smith and Kathy Craft; nephews, Norman Craft Jr. (Debbi), Pat Hail (Janet), James Craft (Valerie), Howard Craft, Bobby Smith (Linda) and Troy Smith; 10 great-nephews; and five great-nieces.

Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV 89005. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Veterans Cemetery.
