Ridge Spring, SC – Austin Hartwell Johnson, 91, an employee of Southern Railway Co. for more than 50 years, died Monday in Forrest Hills Nursing Center.
Born in Aiken County, he was a son of the late James Manly Johnson and Jamelle Evans Johnson. Mr. Johnson was married to the late Mattie Edwards Green Johnson. He served as mayor of Ridge Spring in the 1940's.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Grace Johnson of Columbia and Mrs. Povy J. Fields of Pensacola, Fla., and a brother, Virgil E. Johnson of Orlando, Fla.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Graniteville Cemetery.
