Leona M. Albrecht
Leona M. Albrecht Funeral services for Leona M. Albrecht, 77, of Sharon, Wis., formerly of the Huntley and Marengo areas, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 408 Jackson St., Marengo. The Rev. Glen Borhart will officiate. Born Jan. 10, 1925, in Union, Ill., the daughter of Emil and Elsa (nee Zickur) Dorow, she passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at her home. Burial will take place in the Huntley Cemetery. Mrs. Albrecht was a graduate of Marengo High School and co-valedictorian of the class of 1943. Leona married Herman H. Albrecht in Marengo on June 2, 1945, and had farmed in the Huntley area for many years. She assisted her husband with the operation of an insurance agency and farming. She very much enjoyed her family, baking and dancing. Leona was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, having been an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Huntley, the Zion Lutheran Church of Marengo and the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Harvard. Survivors include her sons, Larry Albrecht and Dale (Monica) Albrecht, both of Sharon; daughter, Beverly (Steven) Rauch of Sycamore; grandchildren, Jessica and Luke Albrecht, Kevin, Kyle and Kelsey Albrecht, and Eron, Talina and David Rauch; and her sisters, Marcella (Clifford) Habbley of Harvard and Lavalle Sandblom of Dundee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman on May 19, 1994; sons, Daryl and Donald; sister, Arlene Schmidt; and her parents. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Harvard, the Zion Lutheran Church of Marengo or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Delavan, Wis.
