Joe Parker, one of America'S greatest test pilots, was killed 20 August 1945 in a freak accident while taking off from an Ie Shima air strip in a Republic P-47. He was born in 1909 at Atlantic City, N.J. He served nine years in the USAAF, joining Republic in April of 1942 as Chief Test Pilot. He is survived by his wife, Ada M. Parker, and an eleven-month-old son, Hyland, who reside at 31 Martin Avenue, Hempstead, L. I.
