Religious figure. Member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was born April 7, 1911 in Saginaw, Michigan. He studied Latin and German as well as electrical engineering at the University of Michigan, but left his studies to pursue the full-time ministry of Jehovah's Witnesses. In 1932, he joined the Brooklyn headquarters staff. A year later, at age 26, he was appointed to supervise the branch office in Britain. In Aug. 1942, he returned to Brooklyn, and one of his first assignments was to develop the curriculum for the new Watchtower Bible School of Gilead, for training new foreign missionaries. He served as an instructor of that School. In 1956, he married Charlotte Bowin, and in 1958, their son Judah Ben Schroeder was born. In 1974, he was invited to serve on the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses, in which his duties led him to travel to many foreign lands to give talks at international conventions, Assembly Hall, Kingdom Hall, and Branch office dedications.
