SHELBY - Mrs. Jessie Lee Dobbins Davis, 80, of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, she was born on Jan. 1, 1919, the daughter of the late Fletcher Lee and Lanner Evelyn Hawkins Dobbins. She was a homemaker and a member of New Bethel Church of the Nazarene and the Willing Workers Sunday school class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley "Jim" Davis; and three brothers, Jack Dobbins, Ernest Dobbins and Gerald Dobbins.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and the Rev. Dean Lavender of Morganton and Lydia and Don Bingham of Shelby; one brother, John Dobbins of Forest City; five sisters, Margaret Early and Betty Holtzclaw, both of Ellenboro, and Laura Tesseneer, Christine Wilkerson and Anna Mae Morrow, all of Forest City; two granddaughters and their husbands, Kim and Kevin Ford and Wendy and John Panther, all of Shelby; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua Ford and Haley Ford.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at New Bethel Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Reed Jones officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at 2924 Laura Road, Shelby.
