Lloyd "Jake" Ray Wildey, 73, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009. He was born July 12, 1935, in Seminole, Okla., and was a resident of Las Vegas for 39 years.
Jake was a retired Technical Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force, having served his country from 1954 to 1974, as an aircraft mechanic. He was then employed by Centel/Sprint from 1974 to 1998, as a cable splicer.
Jake is survived by Maximiliane, his loving wife of 49 years; his son, Werner "Richi" (Colleen) of Texas; daughters, Kathy LaMantia (Tony) of Michigan, and Renate McIntire of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Sarah, Taylor, Kyndal, Jenna, Amber, Kelly and Maximiliane; and great-grandchildren, Sebastion, Trey, David and Kaleb. Jake was a member of the American Legion for 45 years, a member of the German American Social Club since 1971, a lifetime member of the VFW and a social member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
What will be missed the most is his kind heart, smile, his courage, and mostly, his loyalty to both family and friends. Jake had the amazing ability to grill or smoke any meat to perfection. His mechanical nature enabled him to invent handy tools for himself and his friends.
The funeral service will be at 11:20 a.m. Friday, June 5, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City.
Jake was the best husband, dad, opa and friend. His love and friendship will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. Prost, Jake.
