Michael Linzmeyer, 80, of Sheboygan, died peacefully at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center on the morning of Tuesday, May 26, 2009.
He was born on December 24, 1928, the son of the late John and Eunice Linzmeyer.
Michael enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. After which he spent time as a Merchant Marine and was involved with the Seabees in Sheboygan. He then transferred to the Wisconsin Air National Guard 128th in Milwaukee, for which he retired from in 1988. Throughout his years in the service, he worked as a carpenter both self-employed and then later with Quasius Construction.
He was united in marriage to Doniella Povsic on July 14, 1951 at SS. Cyril and Methodius Church in Sheboygan.
Michael spent countless hours with his large garden at his cabin in Redgranite where he grew an extensive selection of vegetables. He also loved reciting poetry and singing. Mostly Michael will be missed for his wonderful charm, wit, honesty, and good sense of humor. He was a "straight shooter" and will be missed greatly.
Michael is survived by his wife, Doniella; and two daughters, Jacquelyn Grosskruetz and Kathleen Linzmeyer; grandchildren, Benjamin Grosskruetz and Charlie Karr; two brothers, Gerald Linzmeyer and Thomas (Sandy) Linzmeyer; two sisters, Jean (the late Bernie) Christensen and Joanne "Mizie" (the late Don) Miller; sister-in-law, Julie Linzmeyer; an aunt, Ethel Linzmeyer; and close friend, Bob "Zieggy" Ziegelbauer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Eunice; two brothers, Joseph (Mary) Linzmeyer and John "Hooper" Linzmeyer; a sister, Janice (the late Bob) Horst.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
