Greer - Mrs. NANCY CLAYTON NEAL, 77, widow of N. M. NEAL of Hampton Road, Greer, died at 2:10 a. m. Thursday at a Spartanburg rest home following five years of declining health and a serious illness of three weeks. She was born and reared in Holly Springs section of Spartanburg County and was the daughter of JOHN GOWAN and SARAH BARNETT CLAYTON. She was a resident of Greer for 20 years and was a member of the Victor Baptist Church. Surviving are one son, J. D. NEAL, Fort Mill; two daughters, Mrs. H. L. NUNLEY of Decauter, ALA., and Mrs. TROY VAUGHN of Greer; one brother, G. L CLAYTON of Inman Route 3; one sister, Mrs. JANE BARNETT of Campobello; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at the Holly Springs Baptist Church by Dr. R. T. LAMB and Rev. E. A. HOOD. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are JOHN N., THOMAS C. and J. D. NEAL, Jr., HOWARD L. NUNLEY, T. L. and RALPH CLAYTON. The body is at the Wood Mortuary and will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. today. The family is at the home of Mrs. VAUGHN on Dual Lane Highway in Greer. (note - Her full name was NANCY MELISSA CLAYTON NEAL.)
