On Thursday, May 21, 2009, at age of 89, Cecilia Somplasky Sunal fell asleep in death.

For more than 70 years her fervent prayer has been for God to, 'let his Kingdom come and let his will to take place as it is in heaven, also upon earth.' (Matthew 6:9) Her hope included the promise, "there will be many of those asleep in the ground of dust who will wake up, to indefinitely lasting life" on earth. (Daniel 12:2) Among those who look forward to these promises as well are her immediate family Paulette Sunal, Sarah, Hardee and Thea Johnston, and a sister Martha Schoemaker. Also many friends in Freeport, Pennsylvania, where Cecilia was born and Waynesboro, Warrenton, and Charlottesville, Virginia, where she worked and lived. To "keep comforting one another with these words" a memorial will take place at a time and place to be announced.

(1Thessalonians 4:18)
