CHRISTIE BRILIS

Christie M. Brilis, 83, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009. She was born to Greek immigrants, April 19, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and resided in Nevada for the past seven years.

She attended what later became the New York Fashion Institute of Technology.

Christie married Michael N. Brilis in 1947, and settled in the City of Yonkers, N.Y., where she was active in many volunteer organizations, including the Daughters of Penelope.

She later earned a degree and practiced in the field of nutrition. Christie's unconditional love for humanity led her to become a mother to everyone she met. People she met never forgot her.

Christie was deeply devoted to her family. She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Christie is survived by her brother, Peter (and Jacqueline) Moraites; sons, Nicholas (and Maureen) Brilis and George (and Satoko) Brilis; daughter, Angela Brilis (and Richard Plavcan); four grandchildren, Todd, (and Cookie), Nichol (and Joe), Collette and Kazia; and two great-grandchildren, Christian and Dean.

The world will miss her unconditional love, open heart, embracing arms and generous laughter.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, May 25, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 El Camino Road. Graveside service will follow at 10:40 a.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City.
