This is an unusual and beautiful zinc stone. The raised inscription reads, "In Loving Remembrance of C.F.W. Schell . . . God in His Wisdom Has Recalled, the Boon His Love Had Given, And Though the Body Slumbers Here, The Soul is Safe in Heaven."

The 1870 Census shows her living in Oquawka with her Prussian-born, (blacksmith) husband, Charles, and 1-year-old daughter Eunice. The baby had been born in Illinois.

By 1880, children Lida (born 1871), Charles (born 1873), Carrie (born 1875), and Willie (born 1878) had been born into the household. They later had children Howard (born 1882) and Raymond (born 1885).

Her husband had emigrated from Wurttenburg, Prussia, as a child with his siblings and parents, Lenhart and Anna Schell.

Her husband remarried in 1891 to widow, Anna (Brandenburg) Meyer
