-- Former longtime resident J.B. (Jimmie) Barwick of Los Ebanos, TX passed away September 19th on his 97th birthday. Born in Havana, FL to Robert and Maggie (Kemp) Barwick. The family moved to Fort Myers when Jimmie was young. Their home was in Tice. Later in life Jimmie became a cattleman and had a ranch on Bayshore Road for a number of years. In 1959 he was married to Miranda Kidd and they lived in N. Fort Myers for awhile before moving to TX where he managed a large ranch. Then they moved to Los Ebanos; on the border of Mexico and started a mission.Almost a year ago Jimmie became sick and went to a nursing home where he remained until his death.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Parks, his father and mother, three sisters, Ellie Rich, Myrtle Ward and Lois Foley all of Fort Myers, a son Phillip of Reno, NV and stepson Arnold Kidd of Greensboro, NC.Surviving are his wife Miranda, stepdaughter Cheryl Kidd of Greensboro, NC, one daughter Cleo Berner of Fort Myers and by a brother, Ernest of Sierra Valley, AZ, three sisters Orbie Riebling of Sebring, Velma Pope of Gainesville, and Elsie Holbrook of St. Louis, MO, three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren.A graveside service will be held in Fort Myers Cemetery on Michigan Ave. Thursday, Nov. 9, at 1 PM.
