Bill was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Lavaca, Ark., where he grew up. In 1940, he went to Thompson Falls, Mont., and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps for six months.
On May 13, 1941, Bill married the love of his life, Thelma Hankins, to whom he was married for 64 years. That month, they moved to Fillmore, where they lived ever since. Together they raised five children, Bobby, Billy, Donald, Larry and Lois.
Bill worked in the oil fields as a clerk hand from 1943 until 1966. In 1967, Bill started his own business, W.M. Hill Trucking. Bill truly enjoyed his trucking days. He participated in his business until he retired in 1993, but his heart remained in trucking.
Bill's other passion in life was fishing, which he enjoyed doing with his children, grandchildren and numerous friends. Bill had some very memorable fishing stories he loved to share.
