J. David Hoggard Sr., 86, died Wednesday at Nathan Adelson Hospice.

He was born Nov. 25, 1914, in Jersey City, N.J. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired administrator for the Economic Opportunity Board and a 55-year resident of Las Vegas.

He is preceded in death by his first and second wives Marguerite Hoggard of Jeresy City, New Jersey and Mabel Welch Wims Hoggard of Las Vegas, Nevada respectively.

He is survived by his wife, Verlia; and son, J. David Jr., both of Las Vegas; stepson, Charles Wims of Oakland, Calif.; brothers, Bishop Clinton of Chevy Chase, Md., and Francis of Union City, N.J.; sister, Symera White of Bethesda, Md.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion United Methodist Church followed by graveside services at noon at Palm Memorial Park-Downtown. Palm Mortuary-Downtown handled arrangements.
