John A. "Jack" Firebaugh, 82, of Lafayette, formerly of Brookston, died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Heritage Healthcare in West Lafayette.
He was born to the late Hiram Lee and Vera Mae Manning Firebaugh. He married Norma Beck in July 1945 in Hawthorne, Nevada. They divorced in 1984.
Surviving are his children, Richard Firebaugh (Candie) of Weeki Wachee, Florida, John Firebaugh Jr. (Cathy) of Brookston, Sharon Long (Danny) of Lafayette and Catherine Lafara (Bob) of Gresham, Oregon; a sister, Norma Lee Hegwood of Arizona; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a sister, Mary Alice Lashbrook.
He was a truck driver for Teamsters Local 135 for 50 years.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S.Navy.assembling mines.
