Nancy Elizabeth Miller Woodcock

1919 - Nancy E. Miller the daughter of David H. Miller was born in the State of Indiana February 5, 1853. She came with her parents across the plains by ox team in 1865 at the age of 12 years, the Portland, Oregon, finally settling on a farm near Albany in Linn County. After a few years the family moved to Multnomah County and settled near Gresham at which place she was married in 1871 to James R. Woodcock. To this union eleven children were born, six boys and five girls, five of the children having preceeded their mother to the grave. Six children, three boys and three girls remain to mourn the departed, all of whom were present.

The family moved to Wamic in 1876, 43 years ago. This mother having her lot with the early settlers of the great Pacific Northwest faced the hardships of forntier life bravely, thinking not so much of her own needs as the needs of her family and neighbors. This sterling quality of our early fathers and mothers makes us of another eneration brave and happy.

Thus Nancy E. Woodcock lived and November 26th, 1919 she died, age 66 years, nine months, and 21 days. Besides her husband she is survived by sons, W. E., Edward and Tom, and daughters, Mrs, Marion Duncan, Mrs. Thomas Driver, and Mrs. Sidney Mulvany, all of Wamic.
