He was born in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Samuel and Sophia Rawlings Arnold. On Feb. 23, 1940, he married Jane Miller in Chicago. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1993.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Johnson (Richard) of Lafayette; two sons, Dr. Daniel E. Arnold and Dr. Thomas L. Arnold (Sue), both of Kokomo; seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Jean Ade and a brother, Paige Arnold.
He served in the Army in Company B, 318th Infantry, 80th Division, and was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge EAME Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars and World War II Victory Medal.
