Robert was a musician and pianist in Kansas City, Missouri and served during WWI as a Musician 3rd Class with Headquarters Company, 159th Infantry Regiment. In 1920 he was performing in a theatrical show in Galveston, Texas. He returned to Kansas City by the early 1930s where he performed as an orchestra musician.
