Glenda Louise Bates Adam died on Sunday, March 23, 2008 in Rome, Georgia after an extended illness.
Mrs. Adam was born February 2, 1941, in Roland, Arkansas to the late Glen and Ouida Bates. Mrs. Adam grew up in San Francisco, California where she met and married Ronald W. Adam in 1959.

Mrs. Adam was a lifelong tennis player. She played in several tennis leagues beginning with Cherokee Country Club team tennis twenty six years ago. She was a member of one of the original Rome USTA teams and played on several ALTA teams. Mrs. Adam was on the USTA Georgia Division team that won the state championship in 1985 and advanced to the sectionals in Lexington, Kentucky. Mrs. Adam played tennis and supported her teams throughout her extended illness.

Mrs. Adam was a lover of the arts. She served on the board of the Cedartown Civic Auditorium Performing Arts Committee. Many of her Junior Service League projects involved the Cedartown Civic Auditorium Children's Art Series and Cedartown Junior Service League Arts Festival. She was an avid reader and belonged to a local book club with many of her friends.

Mrs. Adam was a generous supporter of many local and national charities including Our House, the Samaritan House, the Polk Family Learning Center and Adult Literacy program, and the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Adam was a sustaining member of the Cedartown Junior Service League and, along with her husband Ron, supported the development of and helped maintain a section of the Silver Comet Trail.

Mrs. Adam is survived by her husband Ronald W. Adam, daughters Cynthia Ann Adam and Julie Lynn Adam Robinson, and grandchildren Parker Winston Robinson and Chandler Elizabeth Robinson.
