Clara A. Chapin, 83, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the Washington County Hospital, Washington.
A funeral services was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, at the United Methodist Church in Washington. Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock officiated.

Sheilla Ouellete played the organ and the congregation sang "Hymn of Promise" and "Amazing Grace".

Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Tim Wells, Tom Wells, Todd Wells, Corey Chapin, Jeff Chapin, Nate Chapin, Raheanne Chapin and Addie Chapin.

Burial was in the Washington City Cemetery.

Clara was born June 11, 1924 at Morrowville, KS, the daughter of Harvey and Alta (McConnell) Randall. She attended school in Haddam and then she and her family moved to Washington to begin her sophomore year of high school.

On September 4, 1943, she married Bert Chapin in Tuscon, AZ. Bert was in the Army Air Corp so they moved around until he was discharged in 1945.

Clara was a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington for over sixty years, where she taught Sunday school and was a long time member of United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Eastern Star and was a Cub Scout Leader. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid golfer. She and Bert enjoyed traveling to golf tournaments and competing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Marvin and Don Randall.

Survivors include her husband Bert, Washington; two sons, Mark and wife Peggy of Washington, and Mike and wife Linda of Hutchinson; one daughter, Judy Wells and husband Dave, Manhattan; one brother, Gerald "Pink" Randall of Washington; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church and sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
