He emigrated to America in 1850 and was married to Katherine Ploederl at Chicago, Ill. in 1856.
In 1880 he joined his son John in the Templeton, Iowa area. They built a new home near Templeton, where son Anton resided.
Besides John and Anton, there survives a son, Peter Hoffman, and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. John Hoffman, and children of Roselle.
