Charles was a Confederate Soldier In Company D 2nd Maryland Cavalry during the Civil War∼A Confederate Soldier in Hudson Wisconsin. Charles Rice begins a new life in the north having served in the 2nd Maryland Cavalry, Co. D. In the beginning of the war these Maryland rebels fought on horseback, loosely controlled as Partisan Rangers. Later the Confederate States government would require that these Partisans join regular cavalry organizations, of which the 2nd Maryland Cavalry CSA was one. This type of history means that Charles had many a wild story to tell - if he were only here to tell it!
