William D. BIGGS, 68, of 1303 Monroe St., died at 11 a.m. Thursday at South Bend Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for four years.
He was born Sept. 3, 1922 in Michigan City to Dewey and Pauline BAHNEY BIGGS. He lived most of his life in the Rochester community. On Feb. 10, 1944 in Rochester he married Doris H. HARPER, who died Feb. 21, 1981. He had been a real estate broker in Rochester for 35 years, was a past president of the Fulton County Board of Realtors, and was the first person appointed to the Rochester Board of Zoning Appeals. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Rochester Masonic Lodge, South Bend Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne Mizpah Shrine Temple, American Legion, VFW, Kiwanis Club, Moose Lodge and Rochester Business Association.
Surviving are a son, David A. [BIGGS], who attends Manchester College, and Gregory D. [BIGGS], who attends Anderson University; two sisters, M. Jean KOCH, Rochester, and Delores IHOLT, South Bend, and two brothers, Dale [BIGGS], South Bend, and Robert [BIGGS], Indianapolis.
Preceding in death were his parents; two sisters, Judy and Betty [BIGGS], and a brother, Dick [BIGGS].
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Carl RICKS officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Rochester. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, where the Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m., and after 11 a.m. Sunday. The American Legion and the VFW will conduct military graveside rites. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Fund.
