FREDERICK Funeral for Billy Ray Bagwell, 83, Frederick, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Whitworth officiating.

Mr. Bagwell died Friday, April 24, 2009, at his home.

Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 26, 1926, at Frederick, to Raymond Madison and Mattie Zoe Woodall Bagwell. He attended Sunrise Consolidated No. 6 School, southeast of Frederick. He later transferred to Frederick High School, and graduated with the Class of 1944. He served in the Navy during World War II. He farmed and ranched all of his life in the Tillman County area and was a self-employed trucker. He married Barbara Ann Owen on March 11, 1987 at Vernon, Texas. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder for many years. He also was a member of Disabled American Veterans and a former member of the Frederick Riding Club. As a teenager he played all types of sports, including football, basketball and baseball.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Bobby and Carol Lynne Bagwell, Frederick; and Damon and Ann Owen, Vernon, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Cherri and David Randall, Jonestown, Pa.; six grandchildren and spouses: Danna and Curt Akin, Davidson; Bryan Bagwell, Tipton; Michael and Keri Goins, Wichita Falls, Texas; Keith and Jamie Goins, Vernon, Texas; and Carly Randall and Kimberly Randall, both of Jonestown, Pa.; four great-grandchildren: Lauren Akin, Brandon, Haylie and Ethan Goins; and two nieces: Tana Dugan, Grapevine, Texas; and Kim Hodges, Woodward.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny Ray Bagwell; and a brother, Benny Carl Bagwell.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Indian Territory Hospice.
