Funeral services for the Rev. James A. McPherson, Route One, Acworth, were conducted Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the New Zion Baptist Church.
Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Hubert Pannell and the Rev. Herman Grizzle officiating. A number of grandsons served as pallbearers with Owen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Rev. McPherson passed away Wednesday at Wesley Woods following a lingering illness. He was a native of Bartow County and was 79 years of age.
His parents were the late R. C. and Frances Smith McPherson and he was a Baptist minister for many years.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, E. S., Norfolk, Va., Hoyt and Clarence, both of Cartersville; four daughters, Mrs. Glenn Ellison, Mrs. A. F. Holloran Sr., both of Cartersville, Mrs. Claude R. Jarrett and Mrs. D. Hilton Gunter, both of Marietta; 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
