Mr. Hughie Jones, age 76, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, in an Abilene hospital. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Colorado City Cemetery, under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones was born February 27, 1933, in London, Ontario, Canada to Walter and Myrtle Dell Jones. He married Julie Stebbens in November of 1952 in Arizona. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1986. He was a self employed salvage dealer and a member of the Baptist church.
He is survived by a daughter, Rachael and husband, Mike Britton of Allen; a son, Ray and wife, Wanda Jones of Brooksville, Florida; a sister, Evelyn Shelley of Batchawana Bay, Ontario, Canada; two brothers, Bill Jones of Macon, Georgia and Murray Jones of Colorado City; four grandchildren, Michael Britton, Christy Hedgecock, Raymond Sutton and Stacey Long; 11 great grandchildren, Joshua Britton, Sam Britton, Drew Britton, Caleb Britton, Chloe Hedgecock, Coleman Hedgecock, Carissa Sutton, Courtney Sutton, Josh Sutton, Cassandra Sutton and Libby Long.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Jones and a brother, Rufus Jones.
