Originally assigned to 3 Training Battalion, he transferred to the 2/26 Battalion on its becoming an entity in late November 1941, and became attached to Battalion Headquarters as a member of the Mortars Platoon.
He was slaving on the railway as a member of "F" Force when he was admitted to Kanchanaburi F & H No. 2 Hospital Camp with Dysentery and Beri Beri. He was buried in grave 063 at Kanchanaburi No 4 Burial Grounds.
After the war his body was exhumed and re buried at Kanchanaburi War Cemetery.
He was the son of William and Anna King of Toowoomba, Queensland.
