Madeline D. Cassanova, 92, died October 28, 2008. She was born in Asheville, NC, was the daughter of Miguel Cassanova Sr. and Catherine Manley Cassanova and baptized in St. Laurence Catholic Church.

She received her elementary education in Columbia, SC, and New Orleans, LA. She was a graduate of Clinton High SChool, Columbia Hospital School of Nursing and Postgraduate at University of Pennsylvania Hospital. She was on active duty in the US Navy (NC) Reserves during World War II and the Korean Conflict. She was honorably discharged with the rank of Lt., August 12, 1958. She was a surgical nurse at Providence Hospital in Columbia and Tuomey Hospitals. She retired from Dorn VA Hospital in 1975.

Surviving are two sisters, Anita C. Jacks of Clinton, SC, and Angela C. Baily of Greenville, SC; two brothers, Miguel Cassanova Jr. of Fayetteville, NC, and Sam Cassanova of Laurens, SC; and many beloved nephews, nieces, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews.
