Annie Bess Cartledge was born Dec. 1, 1916, to Clyde Davidson Cartledge and Goldie Mecklin Cartledge in French Camp. She graduated from French Camp Academy and studied and trained at Winona Infirmary. She moved to Aberdeen in 1940. She worked as a registered nurse at the Old Aberdeen Hospital, Gilmore Memorial Hospital and Aberdeen Monroe County Hospital. She married William Ernest Drake, Sr. in 1942. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her various clubs she had belonged to for over the years and entertaining her family and friends.
