Mary Evelyn Frick Fulmer, 88, of Prosperity, SC, born November 24, 1913, in Little Mountain, SC, to Lester E. Frick and Bessie Arnold Frick, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2002, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital, Newberry, SC . She was the widow of Furman E. Fulmer.
Mrs. Fulmer attended Pineywoods School until her final year when she transferred to Chapin High School where she graduated. She had been a homemaker and gardener and a foster mother for Epworth Children's Home. She was an active devoted member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, where she organized the "Goldies" senior citizens group and served as president for 17 years, taught Sunday School for 30 years, served as youth advisor for a number of years and was a member of the WELCA Circle, where she held many offices. She traveled extensively, including several trips to the Holy Land. She loved and nurtured five foster sons, from Epworth Children's home, after the untimely death of her youngest son, Steve.
Surviving were son, F. Edward (Marjorie) Fulmer of Columbia; daughters, Carolyn F. (Francis, deceased-1976) Garner of North Augusta, Jewel F. Oxner (George, deceased-March, 2002) of Newberry, Sandra F. (George) Metts of West Columbia, Janette F. (Freddie) Cain of Prosperity, Faye F. (Ellis) Cannon of Chapin; sisters, Stella F. Wessinger, Martha F. Glymph, Eleanor F. Rhodes, all of Chapin; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by sons, Melvin Ray Fulmer and Steve Randy Fulmer; and brother, Edgar R. Frick.
Christian funeral services: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2002, officiated by the Rev. Randall S. Derrick with interment following in the church cemetery, where she rests been her husband and two young sons.
